Halloween 2011

The kids had great fun at Halloween! This year we did something we haven't done before, and went on a hayride with some friends who live in another neighborhood. We skipped out on our usual thing and did something that turned out to be a lot more exciting. A friend made a hayride out of his trailer which he pulled behind his SUV. He had Halloween decorations, which included blinking skeletons, hay, and Halloween-themed music. It was hilarious to see the looks we got from everyone, as the music blared and the kids jumped off and ran from house to house. They were on and off of that trailer that rockets. It was great fun and wore the kids out!!! There were probably 12 or so kids on the trailer. Add spooky music and lots traffic, and well, you can just imagine. Definitely a night to remember! Oh, and Trevor was Boba Fett from Star Wars and Sarah was Cinderella. Even cuter because several of our friends' kids were characters from Star Wars.

Yodakin

Today was the annual Fall Fest at Trevor's school, which is the biggest fundraiser held by the PTO. All of the money raised this year was going towards new equipment for his playground. As part of the event, there is a dinner, live and silent auction, fall photos you can purchase, face painting, and a pumpkin decorating contest. He entered a pumpkin in the pumpkin decorating contest. His pumpkin was supposed to be Yoda from the Star Wars movies. It turned out really cute and got a lot of great reactions from people. Naturally, we thought it was one of the most original ones until we found out someone did Yoda last year. Of course, we didn't go last year, so how were we supposed to know?! Anyway, prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and he didn't place. Fortunately, he was fine with it and already wants to enter a pumpkin in the contest next year. We had a blast!!!

Ballerina and a Bag

Sarah started taking dance lessons about a month ago. She takes ballet and tap. It has been like a dream for her Mama to watch her following in her footsteps! She may not be the most graceful, or the most mature in the class, but she is definitely one of the most dedicated!!! She loves her teacher and going to class every week. She also finally got to use her dance bag that my friend Jaime painted for her 3rd birthday. Between school, dance, soccer, and karate, we have been very busy this fall. Hope to post more pics later.

School Days

Today our son started first grade. It was a great day and a huge step for him. Last year he had some problems with separation anxiety towards the end of the year. Today was the total opposite! He got out of the car, said goodbye and left. He didn't even want Mommy to walk him in, which was bittersweet. We are sooooo happy that today went smoothly though, and are hoping for great things to come this school year. Our boy is growing up!!!

Blast Off!

Today was the last day of summer break. It's hard to believe that tomorrow our son becomes a 1st grader! We have been soooo busy this past weekend, trying to get in the "last hoorah" as they say. We took the kids to a water park and amusement park, to the lake, and today to shoot rockets. It's been a crazy, fun, and busy weekend and a great end to the summer. Here are pics of our not so little boy launching his model rockets. He was soooo excited the burn ban was finally over and he could launch them again! He was even more excited that his Ya-Ya and Papaw came to see it. We ended the day by grilling steaks and having them over for dinner. What a great day!
