Today is our little boy's 6th Birthday! Of course, he's not so little anymore. He is growing so fast, learning so much, and challenging everyone around him to keep up with him. Kindergarten is not what it used to be. He is reading and writing short sentences, using computers and the internet, and always trying to do things faster! But he is a complete joy (if a little stubborn at times) and we love him so much. It's hard to believe it's only been 6 short years since he entered our lives.
He wanted to have his party at Chuck E. Cheese, so we did, even though Mom and Dad would have rather had it somewhere else. He had fun but it was a bit crazy. January and early April are not the easiest times of year to have children's birthday parties. You end up having them indoors mostly because of the weather. In January, it's just too cold to be outside with small children, and in early April, you are afraid to plan anything outside because it's so unpredictable. Of course, on the day of his party, the weather was fabulous and warm (if a little breezy) so we could have just had a party in our backyard. But who knew!
So, we had a Scooby-Doo party yesterday at Chuck E. Cheese. My friend Heather made a really cute Mystery Machine cake with Scooby-Doo driving. I found a pic on the internet and asked her if she could do it. She makes all kinds of birthday cakes, and is usually making one or two every weekend. Anyway, she said she could do it, and it turned out really cute. It must have been good, because it was almost gone except for two small bites when the party was over! I was really pleased with the cake (and I'm pretty particular about them after several cake disasters).
Overall, it was a great day. Trevor got more toys than he could possibly play with in a week, and we all went home and crashed. Oh, and Mommy and Daddy finally got to eat around 5:30 that day. No lunch and we were both a little light headed but content that our boy had a happy birthday.
