Game Time

Trevor had his first soccer game of the season on Saturday. Even though he's played at soccer camp before, this is the first time he's played on a soccer team. We were going to try to do soccer this past Spring, but he played T-ball instead (we just could not figure out a way to do both). He really likes soccer and is having a lot of fun! Their team is the Lightning and they have 8 players. They play 4 on 4 (3 on field and one at goalie) and they have 8 3-minute periods, so they are constantly rotating players so everyone gets to play. The game is only 24 minutes, but it took close to an hour to play since they got started late. It is fun to watch--the kids caught on fast and were really trying. Jody is their coach, so that's been a lot of work but fun, too. Thank goodness several other parents have been helping! Trevor is a little younger than some of his teammates, but he's just as enthusiastic. It was really fun to see him play goalie!

Pink

Sarah loves all things pink! She especially loves her pink trike that Ya-Ya gave her. Ya-Ya rescued it from salvage, painted it, and made it cute. Here is a photo of Sarah riding it at her friend Lillie's birthday party. The kids all brought their trikes and bikes and rode them in the driveway. What a great idea! Sarah can really get around on her trike now, and she was having lots of fun riding it barefoot (notice her socks behind her), going pretty fast for a 2-year-old!

School Days

Trevor started 4-year-old preschool today. He was excited because he got to take show-and-tell and snacks on the first day! He loves his teacher, Mrs. Kie (rhymes with Sky), and it's nice this year that he knows what to expect a little bit. We are so proud of him, and cannot wait to see what he accomplishes this year. Here is a photo of him with his backpack right before we walked out the door. Of course, not to be upstaged, sister has her own backpack, which she always wears on schools days to drop off brother. So, I've included a photo of her with her backpack, since she insisted on me taking one. (She can't wait to go to school like big brother!) Big brother had a wonderful first day at school, and we rounded it off by going to the county fair tonight with our friends the Derdens. What a great day!

Dino-riffic Fun!

This past weekend, the kids and I went to Kansas to visit my Aunt Ann and some of my Dad's family. One highlight of the trip was going to the T-Rex Cafe, which is like the Rainforest Cafe, except the theme is dinosaurs and all things prehistoric. I have to admit, I don't know who enjoyed it more--the kids or me! Trevor was so excited when we got out of the car that he said, "This looks like some Dino-riffic fun!" I thought I was going to lose it. He really cracks me up sometimes with the things he comes up with. The food was great and the restaurant--which included animatronic dinosaurs, meteor showers, and huge aquariums--was really cool. We all agreed that we definitely would go back to T-Rex Cafe if we get the chance. The food was great too! There is a lot to do there besides eat; they have a Build-A-Dino shop, a fossil digging area, and a great gift shop too. Here are some pics from our lunch.

Pickin' Maters

Well, the kids had such a busy weekend, that I decided to post more pics...here they are on Sunday at Papaw Tuck's pickin' tomatoes from the big tomato pots. Most of this summer's tomatoes are gone, but the kids are still having fun! Papaw Tuck and Grandma always have a garden in the summer, and this year's garden is really great! Besides tomatoes, they have squash, okra, eggplant, peppers, and peas. Every weekend the kids look forward to picking tomatoes and bringing them home to eat during the week! We have really enjoyed their garden!
